    I know of a free popular music notation program this is called, Musette.

    I’m a musical arranger, and have been using Noteworthy Composer for several years now.  It will even transpose the parts for transposing instruments after you’ve done your arrangements and allow you to hear them in the proper key.  There is also a good support community online.  It will cost you a very reasonable $49.
